Code Club Volunteers

Program Overview

Volunteers with this program support children as they explore basic coding concepts in a fun, hands-on, group setting. Code Club programs may include activities such as block-based coding, simple game design, robotics, or introductory programming tools. Programs run July to August at designated library branches. Limited positions available.

Qualifications

• 14-18 years of age
• Interest in technology, coding or computer science
• Good communication skills
• Reliable, patient and positive
• Able to commit to the dates and times Code Club is running
• Experience working with children is an asset

Responsibilities

• Attend required training sessions
• Support participants as they complete coding activities
• Encourage creativity, problem-solving and teamwork
• Provide positive feedback and encouragement in a welcoming environment

Time Commitment

• Approximately 1 hour per session
• Programs run multiple times weekly, July 6 – August 17
